Derek Plant Farm Machinery has been involved in the John Deere franchise since the close of Sherrads in the early 1980's. Derek originally started working in Sherrads as a mechanic and then progressed into the sales department. After the close of Sherrads, Derek started supplying tractor parts from his home in North county Dublin, then in the mid 1980's he acquired the John Deere franchise and Derek Plant Farm Machinery was born.

Another major franchise which assisted the growth of our company is Grimme Landmaschinenfabrik, the largest producer of potato planting, harvesting & handling equipment in the world. Our company acquired this franchise in the 1990’s after Richard Person & Grimme dissolved their manufacturing agreement. The combination of John Deere and Grimme put two market leading product ranges under one company and enabled Derek Plant Farm Machinery to grow from humble beginnings to our new industry leading premises and showroom.
